Volunteer Opportunity!

The Bicycle Valet is currently seeking outgoing, fun loving, active Volunteers for our upcoming season.

It's a GREAT chance to have fun, meet people, be part of some lively summer festivals, gain valuable work experience—and, on top of that, receive some awesome gifts.

The Bicycle Valet makes event bike parking simple.  Part “coat check”, part parking lot for bikes and other non-motorized transportation, it is an easy and safe bicycle parking solution at community events of all sizes.

Responsibilities: As a Volunteer Bicycle Valet Attendant, you will help set up or dismantle the bicycle parking area, as well as park bicycles for the event attendees.

Shifts: Volunteer positions are most often on the weekends, with shifts occurring in 4 hour or 8 hour periods.

If you are interested in being part of this innovative and popular program please contact our Bicycle Valet Coordinator, Geoffrey Vincent.  Volunteers will be accepted throughout the summer season.
The Bicycle Valet is a program of Better Environmentally Sound Transportation.  For more information visit our web site at www.best.bc.ca.

FAQs

BEST provides free, friendly, and convenient Bicycle Valet services.

It's like a coat check for bikes — completely hassle-free and secure!

In 2009, The Bicycle Valet parked over 7000 bikes and was featured at over 70 event days.  From community celebrations to large outdoor concerts, The Bicycle Valet has become an expected service for riders and event goers across the Lower Mainland.

The Bicycle Valet is proud to partner with BCAA and its Bike Assist Program for the 2010 season. Look for The Bicycle Valet tent and banner at upcoming events!

How does it work?

We give you a claim stub and give us the bike.  After the event, you bring back the stub and we return your bike.  Our service is free!

Do I need a lock?

We ask that you do not lock your bicycle.  The site is secure and attended at all times.  However we do advise that you always bring a lock with you in case you want to stop somewhere else.

Is it safe?

Yes. We've been operating The Bicycle Valet for four years, have parked over 12,000 bicycles, and have never lost a single one.  However it’s up to you to keep your ticket safe because we'll give the bike back to whoever has it.

Can I leave my stuff with my bike?

Yes. Because we can't inventory your accessories, we can't be responsible for them, but anything securely attached to your bike will be safe.

How much does it cost?

It’s free to use but don’t forget to let event organizers know how important the service is to you!

What if I can't get back in time to pick up my bike?

When you take your claim check, you’re agreeing to our service terms.  If you’re not back to pick up your bike 30 minutes after the event has ended, we’ll bring your bike back our office where you’ll have to come pick it up and pay the costs for its transport and storage.

Will there be delays checking in and out?

Depending on whether the event has an official start or end time, there may be a short line when you show up.  Our valets are conscious of wait times and work hard to get your bike parked or returned to you as quickly as possible!

How about my trailer, skates or jogging stroller?

Yes. We'll park anything electric assisted or human powered.  If it has a gas engine, you’ll have to park it with the cars.
