TAIWAN Fest

In a true symbol of Canada’s well-built diversity, TAIWANfest 2019 is once again gathering the stories, experiences, and histories of peoples and cultures - and bringing them to Downtown Vancouver. This year, TAIWANfest is highlighting the bonds between Taiwan and Vietnam in another “Dialogue with Asia”, with “Riding the Waves with Vietnam”, bringing unrivalled talents and experiences from these two countries to Canada.

Perhaps, begin by drowning yourself in the sounds of the drums at “Stunning Virtuosity”, where Ju Percussion brings their dynamic rhythms and creativity to the stage. Or, have your heart warmed by uplifting rock music, at “Island Scream” with the rock band Sorry Youth and their artistic partners. Then, hear the intriguing stories of different innovative individuals, including Caroline Nguyen, a Vietnamese YouTuber bringing Taiwanese and Vietnamese viewers together, at “Hope Talk”, and study the creations of fashion students who merge modern trends with Indigenous Taiwanese arts at “Taiwan New DNA.” Marvel at “Taiwan Stage”, a shape-shifting mobile stage, and their performance of a Taiwanese temple celebration by a team of… robots? Venture to “Friendship Kitchen”, and see what happens when passionate chefs from Taiwan, Vietnam, and Canada collide into culinary genius. With countless more things to see, there truly is no shortage of immersive happenings at TAIWANfest 2019. See, hear, and taste it all, August 31 - September 2 in Downtown Vancouver!

We will be located at: Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza
